Yttrandefriheten blir det samlande temat på Bok & Biblioteksmässan den 21-24 september 2006. För initiativet står mässans ledning, International PEN och International Publishers’ Association (IPA), där alla de nordiska förläggareföreningarna är medlemmar.

Under bokmässan i Göteborg kommer International Publishers’ Association att dela sitt frihetspris – IPA Freedom to Publish Prize. Se informationen från IPA här nedan.

In the face of increasing attacks, IPA creates Freedom to Publish Prize
In numerous countries around the world writers and publishers are harassed, prosecuted, jailed, tortured and sometimes even killed for what they write and publish. This is the reason why the International Publishers’ Association (IPA) has decided to create an annual international freedom to publish prize. This prize is intended to honour, each year, a person or an institution that has made a notable contribution to the defence and promotion of freedom to publish anywhere in the world.

The prize-winner shall receive the sum of 5’000 CHF. For the first time, the IPA Freedom to Publish Prize will be awarded on the occasion of the Göteborg Book Fair next year (Sweden, 21-24 September 2006). IPA is calling for contributions and nominations.
